Security Clearance Process

Latest DCSA Statistics and Reforms for Investigation Processing

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) published their latest investigation processing stats a few days ago. This includes the processing of the investigations and the adjudication piece of it. They also provided the numbers on how many were enrolled in Trusted Workforce (TW) 1.25 Continuous Vetting (CV)and Rap Back enrollment.

There is a lot going on in the background investigation and security clearance world with DCSA trying to get NBIS fully functional to handle Continuous Vetting for not just the Department of Defense, but numerous other agencies. They have a 36-month roadmap with various milestones to achieve. Another piece of NBIS is improving the eAdjudication process and getting all agencies enrolled and using it. On top of all that, the Office of Personnel Management, in collaboration with DCSA, is moving towards enrolling all Non-Sensitive Public Trust civil servants and contractors into Rap Back and CV as a part of the TW 2.0 initiative. That would alleviate having to do reinvestigations for Tier 2 and Tier 4 applicants. One more thing on the horizon is the implementation of the Personal Vetting Questionnaire (PVQ) to replace the SF-85, SF85P, and SF-86, which, once in use, will have applicants’ fill out only the portion required for the level of investigation they need for their position or security clearance.

Discussion

  1. So is there any real difference between Continuous Evaluation and Continuous Vetting? Some folks on here posted some info a while back but I don’t think I really understood the distinction.

  2. Continuous Evaluation is but one part of Continuous Vetting. CV is the end goal for Trusted Worforce 2.0

  3. do you have a link to the report mentioned at the beginning of the article?
